This Week

In case anyone was wondering, painting Stacked Journaling on a large scale all week will make your arms feel like lead for about three days. Still, it's a labor of love to me, even when things look and feel a little wonky.

I've been working on this piece this week...

(36" x 42", Untitled
canvas monoprinted with acrylic paint)

... a huge hunk of unframed canvas, but I've been thinking about this piece that I painted years ago called, "Redefining Pink".

Redefining Pink, 2007
 (18" x 24", 140# watercolor paper
acrylic paint with masks,
stencils, foam printing plates)

In Redefining Pink and other pieces of that time, I was working my way through the girly color palette I had loved as a child, trying to bring it into a more adult, sophisticated realm so I could begin using it in my work. All these years later, I'm still painting with that same color palette.

Do you have a favorite palette you return to again and again?

Happy weekend!

I love the pink piece -- especially since I rarely like pink at all!

Well, I must be in a 'girlie' mood because I love your Redefining Pink!! I tried to leave a comment on another of your posts the other day but I was locked out! hmmmm Now I don't remember what post or what I was going to say! no surprise there!

I love pink, but all the people in my family hate it, so that has influenced many of my choices! Now I use orange all the time, but I really love your pink!

not a pink person either, but the limey green and the blues lift this above the usual definition :) WOW!
