Open Studios

I may be jumping the gun a bit, but I have high hopes that I will be chosen to demo this year at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, for Interweave Press at their Open Studios tables. In anticipation of that, I have been experimenting with Stacked Journaling art projects that are small and would be easy to produce in a public setting.

("Joyous" 12 1/2" x 12 1/2")

This is a Stacked Journaling collage I created using mat board as the substrate. I Journaled onto the mat board with various paint colors and as I was working with covering the mat board, I also created some collage papers in the same colors which then got cut up and used in the piece.

I think I can prepare a bunch of the supplies needed to make these little collages and hopefully the visitors to the Quilt Show will enjoy watching, asking questions and even helping me to create these fun little art pieces!

Happy creating!

It is very interesting how a composition can translate a feeling or thought. I love the contrast and the echo makes me think of a story/journey...once upon a time...way back when...
Good luck on the pick, the journaling would be such fun.

Happened upon your blog while surfing the net a bit. Really enjoy your textile art and experiments with fabric and paper. Marvelous colors and designs.
