Another View Of A Working Studio

This weekend, my studio got dismantled.

After spending a week playing on Nancy Crow's huge print tables, I decided that my more modest version should at least be accessible from all sides. It got pulled away from the large worktable and took a place of its own nearer to my side of the space. The large table moved up in the space by two feet. This gives me about 36" between the tables and allows me full access to all sides of each of them!

I love the transformation!

The next step will be to replace the track lighting with enough fluorescents to flood the space with a wash of light and cast out all the crazy shadows the tracks shed.

It only took me about an hour to put everything back together, including my most important studio elements: paint and tools!

O O O O and this is just totally cool: while I didn't win the Artisan Search 2012 (congrats to all the winners!!), I am on this MIU and Open Studios schedule and I can't believe my eyes!  I hope you'll join me in Houston this year, it's going to be too much fun to miss.

Happy rearranging!

Gasp! You're brave, and this looks like a terrific change to get ready for Open Studios. I'll look forward to following your prep, since I hope to participate in one next year.

Congratulations. I'm sorry that you didn't win maybe next time. I like your studio. I have space to get to all side of my large tables as well.

Congratulations on the MIU and Open Studios! I'll be following along in blog world. Nice space with all that access. Sometimes my studios get so crowded I have to clear space to get access on one side!

Nice space. I almost turned my garage into my studio and now I know kinda what it would have looked like. Wish I had.

Great studio! Thanks for posting the article about children's art education--so important. And your class in Ohio sounded wonderful. I enjoy your artwork.
