Gelli Arts Giveaway!!

Yay, it's been so long since I've hosted a give-away that I wanted the next one to be special!

Gelli Arts, makers of those new and very cool gel printing plates, has generously donated one 6" x 6" Gel Printing Plate (a 20.00 value) to one of my readers and all you have to do to win it is comment on this blog post and tell me about the monoprinting loveliness you want to try with your new Gel Plate!

As an added incentive and in the hopes inspiring your muse, I will also be including a packet of 10 hand-painted, lightweight collage papers that I created using the Gel Plate.

It's so simple! If you want to win this neat package, just leave a comment on this blog post... I want to hear all about the masterpiece you will create with your new Printing Plate. And if you blog about this post and add a link to it in your post, notify me because I'll add your name into the hat a second time!

The contest starts today and will end at noon on November 7th! Please feel free to retweet and repost this giveaway, it's open to anyone who comments (PLEASE no anonymous commenting, I won't be able to find you to get your prize package to you!!)

You can come and watch me demonstrate my Stacked Journaling, painting, and collage techniques- as well as the way I use Gelli Printing Plates- at the Houston International Quilt Festival on Wednesday, November 2nd between 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM, and on Thursday, November 3rd between 12:40 PM and 2:40 PM. I will be out in front of the Quilting Arts and Cloth, Paper, Scissors booth both days!

Happy monoprinting!

How fun! Very generous of Gelli Arts and you. I love to screen print and stamp on my fabrics but rarely monoprint. Maybe this is the tool I need to do more monoprinting. I love layering designs so hopefully I'll win this and I'll be a layering fool! :)

I love monoprinting & have been looking forward to trying these out when I saw one for sale. I'm working with cut out shapes at the moment & would like to include these on the plate and then work into them further.

I've no idea how gelli printing works. And I also live too far away to be send the gift anyway. Perhaps you could have a tutorial on gelli printing instead, some day, that would be great!

I have been monoprinting on fabric using a gelatin plate. I am in the process of making a quilt using the pieces. I didn't make enough the first time around, so it would be really interesting to see how these are different to print on than gelatin. I would make more prints to add to my quilt.

Ooooo... I had success last time I tried gel printing, I would love to try it again. Always looking for ways to make great texture on fabric.

I did some mono printing this summer with a friend and am totally addicted. I used plexiglas and printed directly from the table surface as well with fun results. I love your stacked journaling and am intrigued that you do it with monoprinting. I would love to win the gelli plate.

I took a painted paper/journal making class from LK Ludwig where one of the techniques was gelatin printing. I tried it and liked it, but the hardest part was making and maintaining the gelatin base. This sounds like a wonderful alternative! Count me in!

I've been wanting to try monoprinting, but the making of the gelatine plate intimidates me. I would love to experiment with on fabric. I'm picturing strange little animals on an abstrat landscape....

I have been wanting to try gelli printing. I'm working on a new series which uses bias strips in free flowing designs. The bias strips "hold" various types of fabrics and fabric "experiments." I think fabrics made using this technique might add a nice touch to my project.

For whatever reason, me and the actual *making* of the gel plate have never gotten on well. So I wouldn't mind giving gelatin plate printing another go with this fellow. Thanks for the chance to win! :)

I would really like to win this plate for one of my former students who is an Associate Prof on sabbatical. She and I have started woking together again and we introduced each other to new types of mono printing. I have one for myself on order and should come this week so that I have something to work on at home during the upcoming winter when I can't get to the studio to do mono prints using a press. We are planning another work sessions soon and I would love to surprise her with a plate for herself.

linda said...

haven't tried the Gelli plate yet, but have used gelatin & so lots of monoprinting from just about any surface (plastic, plexi....). would love to know if the company will custom make even larger plates than their biggest 8x10 size. I have a worm-eaten wood board I would like to try to get a good image of on Gelli and then on fabric or thin paper. Have a great time at IQF, wish I could be there but am listening to cowbells in Bavaria right now.

Pam L. said...

I'm just getting started with printing on fabric. Though I have been dyeing fabric for a year or so now. I love the idea of layering monoprints over the dye and seeing where it takes me. Perhaps now I will start that leg of my fiber journey! :-)

janice said...

Bought stuff to make a plate and never did. This looks like such a wonderful substitute. Would like to build on monoprinting experience at the barn, and this seems like it will be more flexible. Just saw it reviewed in one of my magazines and was interested. Thanks for the opportunity to win this. Have fun in Houston, although I guess it is not much of a trip for you.

Best of luck to all -- if you don't win, Christmas is right around the corner -- ask *nay, BEG* Santa for this! Your art supplies will rejoice at its appearance in your studio!

Wow! I would love to have one to use for a YouTube demo. I love the feel of mono-printing on real gelatin, but it was so much trouble that I abandoned it. I feel guilty buying new supplies now, so winning one would solve my problem. Thanks!
