CS No.3, 1-25-10, 16" x 18"
This was a fun piece to construct and went together fairly quickly, once it decided what it wanted to be.
As usual, I started with a piece of masonite (I love to recycle), which I covered with two layers of Wonder Under. Onto that substrate, with a hot iron, I collaged several whole sheets of melted magazine pages.
Wanting to change the background color a bit but also wanting to show the beautiful patterns and peculiarities of the original papers, I created a glaze combining a 50/50 mixture of gloss and matte mediums with a hint of Golden acrylic paint in dioxazone purple.
Once it was dried, I embellished the background with textile foil in copper. I continued to collage more cut pieces of magazine pages, again using Wonder Under as my adhesive.

Nice! You inspire me to try the Citrasolve technique - and to think I donated all my years of National Geographics to my school....
What a good use of your papers! And I saw that you now have a good supply of Citrasolve to work with, that was very generous of the company to send that. Nice work!
Judi, somehow I missed your post about the Citrasolv and magazine pages, but I've just had a big read and a catch up. Now I really want to have a go at this. Your collage with the pages is amazing! Thanks for sharing! I get CPS but managed to miss it in there too!

Gorgeous Judi! It has such a wonderful mix of earthiness and color!
Is it difficult to use the foil...copper...on the collaged papers? I have never used Citrasolv and can hardly wait to find it, Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
Where do you purchase you Citrasolv?
Need to find Cirasolve and try this. Looks like fun and great results.
Just looking at this again because I love the color combination. It reminds me of one of the pantone color arrays for this year. Have you seen them?
I love this piece, the colors are wonderful!
I came here from Laughing Dog which I also just discovered today. Love your work so I'm becoming a follower. I know absolutely nothing about dyeing fabrics so the jar technique was amazing to me.
In one of your posts you asked if we'd like a how-to on stamp making - YES PLEASE. I like the tutorials you've given and I always want MORE. hehe
Thanks Judi for your comments :) I had to put that redbird in my piece.. I think it just needed a punch of red.. was working with a bald eagle but it just didnt seem to make sense. Now I have to take those 2 pieces and draw in pencil on them to make them more of a whole.. I'm stuck on that one piece.. I'm thinkign of drawing off center concentric circles if that makes sense. talk soon von
Beautiful and as always your art is very inspiring.
Thank you for sharing
This is absolutely lovely.
